  • আগেভাগে লক্ষ্মীপুজো করে লাভ কী হল

    এই উৎসবের প্রথম উল্লেখ পাই রামায়ণে, রামচন্দ্র যখন যুদ্ধজয় করে সীতাকে নিয়ে ফিরলেন, তখন অযোধ্যার ঘরে ঘরে দীপালিকায় আলো জ্বলেছিল। সেখানে অবশ্য লক্ষ্মীর কোনও নামগন্ধ নেই। তৃতীয় বা চতুর্থ শতাব্দীতে রামায়ণের মোটামুটি সমসাময়িক বাত্‌স্যায়নের কামসূত্রে যক্ষের রাত্রির কথা আছে, যে রাতে ছোট ছোট প্রদীপ জ্বালিয়ে জনপদ সাজাতে হয়। এটি এক লোকাচার, যা ব্রাহ্মণ্যতন্ত্র ক্রমশ গ্রহণ করে নিয়েছিল। কিন্তু এখানেও লক্ষ্মীর কোনও প্রত্যক্ষ উল্লেখ নেই। অবশ্য যক্ষ থেকে যেমন ঐশ্বর্যের দেবতা কুবের এলেন, লক্ষ্মী যদি তেমনই এসে থাকেন, তা হলে আলাদা কথা। তবে এটা ঠিকই যে, পুরাণের দেবী লক্ষ্মী এক সময় যক্ষদের দীপালোকিত রাত্রির উৎসবটি নিজের করে নেন।
